CHROMATE CONVERSION PROCESS

Chromate conversion is a chemical treatment process for aluminum that provides protection from corrosion and enhances the ability of paint and/or adhesives to "bond" with the aluminum.  During this multi-stage process, the surface of the aluminum reacts with the coating treatments and becomes a part of the coating.  The coating consists of a thin film on the surface which is soft when freshly formed, and then becomes more abrasive-resistant as it is dried and aged.

The Benefits of Chromate:

- Increased Corrosion-Resistance

- Excellent Bonding Surface for Paint & Adhesives

- Prolongs life of finish

- Prolongs life of fixture

Be advised that not every lighting fixture manufacturer supplies their die cast aluminum parts with chromate conversion, and those that do often do not use a thorough nine-stage process.  This process combined with top-grade aluminum ensures a long-lasting, durable product.
